The town of Melbourne Beach proper, is relatively small with a population of just over three thousand people. However, the barrier island continues south for 15 miles outside the actual town limits. This unincorporated area of Melbourne Beach has seen much development in recent years as the availability of vacant land near the beach in Florida has dwindled.  But within Melbourne Beach city limits, you’ll find a friendly close-knit community who often gather to watch sunrises on the beach and sunsets on the river.
